The Protagonist (主人公, Shujinkō) is the main character of Magical Vacation. They are semi-customizable, with the player choosing their gender, name and Spirit at the beginning of the game, though, they cannot choose Holy, Inky, or Charity unless they complete certain criteria in Link Mode. The male protagonist is named Marsh/Mash/Masshu or Graham,[n 1] while the female protagonist is named Mallow/Malow/Marou or Sundae.[n 2]

Profile[]

Personality[]

The protagonist doesn't have their own established personality, as they are meant to be an extension of the player. However, a section in their character profile calls them gentle yet energetic, and says their favorite activity is making friends.

Appearance[]

Male[]

The male protagonist has messy, curly brown hair, thick eyebrows, and green eyes. In his default outfit, he sports a stylized cream-colored wizard's hat with green and orange embellishments, a white shirt, a loose cream jacket with blue hems, baggy purple pants with one large button sewn into each side, brown shoes and a red scarf.

In his Dark Magic costume, the hero's hat becomes green, baggier, with longer ends, retaining the ribbon embellishments. He wears a very baggy green cloak and purple pants, with brown shoes and green socks.

In his Light Magic comstume, the hero wears what looks like a straw hat with orange ribbon embellishments and orange cloth hanging over the back, and his outfit is overall lighter: he wears a short blue vest and loose purple pants that almost look like a skirt, with orange-brown clogs.

Female[]

The female protagonist has long blonde hair styled into outwards curls, thinner eyebrows and half-lidded purple eyes. In her default outfit, she wears a pink-tinted wizard's hat with green and orange embellishments, a pink bathrobe-style jacket with purple hems, an orange 'skirt', blue patterned tights, purple socks, brown shoes and a red scarf.

Biography[]

Magical Vacation[]

Backstory[]

During the prologue, the protagonist is ostracized by their peers in their village, due to being the only one who could see spirits. Principal Biscotti recognized their talent for magic and brought them to his academy so that they could learn magic and become friends with more spirits.

When all the friends are separated, the protagonist takes on the role of looking for them, slowly but surely finding everyone over the course of the game.

Epilogue[]

Neutral (Starting element or Love Magic)[]

"And then, there's the leader. From graduation, they went on to teach magic; not for battle, but to assist one another. Will-o'-Wisp was reformed into a school suitable for a new era."

Dark Magic[]

"And then, there's the leader. From graduation, they left the country in search of stronger foes. On foot, they traveled for 20 years and left their footprint in over 30 countries, learning how to freely move between realms along the way. Their adventure spanned across 20 realms, beginning in the Fire Realm. By the time they died in the Wind Realm at 87 years-old, they had earned hundreds of titles within many countries. Even in death, their legacy lingered throughout the land."

Light Magic[]

"And then, there's the leader. From graduation, they set out on a journey to find a method of breaking the dodos' curse, as well as a cure for the side effects of Enigma fusion. They traversed numerous realms, felled formidable foes, and treated the ill; lots of new knowledge was gained from these experiences."

Secret Ending - 100% completion[]

"One day, a book arrived from their travels to Will-o'-Wisp Academy. Inside was a plethora of information regarding what they had set out to resolve. Since then, wizards from all over Kovomaka grew to be engulfed from the wellspring that every page beamed, and it became known as Will-o'-Wisp's greatest jewel of knowledge.

And yet, no one knew what became of its author."

Other Appearances[]

Super Smash Bros.[]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Stickers[]

The male version of the protagonist appears in the game as sticker #624, while the female version appears as sticker #625. As neither of them have names in their original appearance, they are simply called "Boy" and "Girl".
