Plot[]

The Robots[]

In the beginning of the game, the Kahve Ruins is one of the first areas the player visits. After crash landing on the Quiet Plateau, the player and Lassi go north and discover this strange building, of which Lassi seems terrified of. Nonetheless, the player and Lassi push on and enter the building.

There, they are attacked by robots. Despite the onslaught, the duo manages to reach the top level of the ruins. There, they discover the magical rocket, Neumann. Lassi suggests that the player "hot-wire and steal it", but the two are stopped by one of the robots and thrown into the Gumbo Gaol.

Stealing Neumann[]

After defeating the Ant Queen and restoring power to the Land Where the Stars Sleep, the player and Lassi return again to attempt to steal Neumann. They see that the power has flowed throughout the ruins, and the robots have become even more aggressive as a result. The robot that zapped them earlier also returns, and if the player gets caught, they are thrown out of the building and must try to get past it again.

Upon reaching the third floor, the rocket is still there, but isn't unguarded. Here, the player fights the Securitron 2 boss -- the same one they fought in the Gumbo Gaol, but stronger. When the robot is defeated, the player and Lassi make a mad dash for the rocket, and successfully steal it before the other robots can manage to catch them.

Return to Erd[]

Later, the player and a now full party return to the Kahve Ruins in search of the Earth Millennium Gummy. The robots that once lurked there are nowhere to be seen, and the player can now explore the lower levels of the ruins. When the group arrives to the lower levels, it's here that they discover the horrible fate of the Espresso Civilization. Piles of gummified and long-gone human-shaped bodies are littered about the recharging room. These humans were, according to what is learned in Espresso, turned into gummies to power the robots of Erd. In this room, you can also allow Mokka to recharge his battery.

The other area you can explore in the Kahve Ruins downstairs contains a pod, in which you encounter the Gummy Girl. When the pod is opened, she begs the player to help her before the battle begins. The fight is optional, so if the player chooses not to open the pod, she won't be encountered.

Trivia[]

  • The name "Kahve" means coffee in Turkish.
  • The robot that zaps the player is called Robot D12S. Despite its aggressive nature, you can't actually fight it.
  • This area is the second time the player encounters a Securitron robot, the first time being in the Gumbo Gaol.
  • There are many noticeable changes in the Ruins when power is restored, like the map being brighter and many screens and lights working that were not before.
  • It's hinted at, but not confirmed, that when Mokka recharges his battery here that he becomes susceptible to the effects of the robot uprising.
